Misinformation in medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic

The spread of misinformation during epidemics is not a new phenomenon. But the COVID-19 pandemic is certainly the largest epidemic in recent times and its intersection with the internet and social media have amplified a modern infodemic of misinformation.
